Young Lawyers Contest

This year the Academy of European Law are hosting the Young Lawyers Contest for newly qualified lawyers who want to engage with European law.

This contest organised in cooperation with the Warsaw Bar Association with the support of the CCBE (who may have already contacted you) will enable newly-qualified lawyers to work in international teams on practical questions relating to European law.

It will offer a unique opportunity for young lawyers across the European Bars represented in the competition to exchange experiences, develop their critical thinking and communication skill, and to foster useful relationships for their future career.

The contest will be held in English and is organised in three rounds:

First round: written report and oral presentation on a question of European law selected among the topics of the Justice programme 2014-2020

            Second round: negotiation exercise

Third round: the winners of the previous rounds will confront each other in an oral debate in the style of a moot court pleading.

The finals will take place in at ERA’s conference facilities in Trier, Germany, on 13-14 February 2020.

Candidates from the Justice Programme 2014-2020 benefit from the reimbursement of their travel and accommodation costs. The fee per contestant is €236.

Although their governments are not part of the Justice Programme, contestants from Denmark and the UK are very welcome to apply too. They will have to bear their own travel, catering, and accommodation costs.

The deadline for online registrations is 23rd September 2019.

Further details on participation, selection procedure, as well the contest rules can be found on the Young Lawyers Contest web site.
