Description

In order to have a legal profession that is fit for the demands of delivering legal services in the 21st century we need to make sure that those providing the services are productive, resilient and able to cope with a changing and competitive environment.

Increasingly organisations are developing wellbeing policies. There are many benefits to this – greater self-esteem, optimism, resilience, vitality, positive relationships with colleagues, better physical and mental health, greater motivation, creativity and more productive work. From an employer’s perspective actively improving wellbeing may help to attract a talented and diverse range of people, help with staff retention, reduce sick days, increase productivity and give an edge over competitors. It makes business sense to take wellbeing seriously.

This seminar will help identify aspects of practice that compromise wellbeing and identify ways of improving wellbeing including:

  • Understanding what wellbeing means;

  • Factors that affect wellbeing;

  • Effects of stress;

  • Working with difficult people;

  • Strategies for success including practical tips on time management and effective use of email.

To increase accessibility this session will run on the following dates:

Wednesday 26 April 2017

           Tuesday 5 December 2017

The session will be delivered by Trish McLellan – Co-ordinator for Scotland and Northern Ireland, LawCare. LawCare is the charity that supports and promotes wellbeing in the legal community throughout the UK and Ireland.
