The Coronavirus Community Fund

The Coronavirus Community Fund has been set up to support groups and organisations working with the following communities and issues and that are affected by coronavirus;

·  Older people (aged over 50)

·  Those at increased risk, particularly in relation to poor mental health and wellbeing

·  Vulnerable isolated people and families, particularly those living in rural areas

We've raised £450K to date and distributed £195k already - since launch on Monday! Some examples of the work being supported include;

- ‘Good morning’ services re-organising so that they can keep regularly phone isolated people from home rather than from their offices - when the list of demand is ‘growing by the hour’

- Local communities co-ordinating what the GP, the pharmacist, the store are doing to provide the best support to the vulnerable

- A community freezer!

- A flood of new volunteers offering to help

- “already we’ve set up a local helpline”

- Organised food donations and distribution around a rural area

Full details of how to apply to the fund are on our homepage https://communityfoundationni.org/
