Two Belfast law firms have lent their support to the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF), Cleaver Fulton Rankin and Campbell Fitzpatrick Solicitors.

Cleaver Rankin Fulton recently supported the launch at the Ulster Museum of a unique limited edition print by acclaimed Belfast-based artist Nicola Russell.

Nicola painted a beautiful oil painting of the Yellowhammer, an endangered Irish bird species, while she was recovering from breast cancer. From this painting a limited number of high quality prints were produced and are available for sale from UCF until December 31. Funds raised from the sale will go to UCF and Friends of the Cancer Centre as Nicola’s way of thanking the charities for their counselling services while she was ill. Commenting on the launch of the print, Alastair Rankin, Chairman with Clever Fulton Rankin said "We are delighted to be supporting this event and in paricular the Ulster Cancer Foundation who provide invaluable services".

Also making a difference were the staff from Campbell Fitzpatrick Solicitors and their guests attended UCF’s glittering annual Think Pink! Luncheon where celebrity TV chef Rosemary Shrager was guest speaker. The event was the highlight of the charity’s breast cancer awareness campaign.

Breast Cancer is now the most common form of cancer in women in Northern Ireland with more than 1,000 women diagnosed with the disease each year, but survival rates are steadily improving.  Today, there are around 10,000 women with a diagnosis of breast cancer living in Northern Ireland.

Alison Cassidy, a solicitor with Campbell Fitzpatrick, said:

“The fear of breast cancer worries most women, but so much can be done nowadays both to prevent and treat this terrible disease. That message is so important for women everywhere. The Ulster Cancer Foundation provides an excellent and vital service giving advice and support to those who need help".

“Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the UCF luncheon, from the Pink Champagne reception to the very entertaining Rosemary Shrager.  We were very happy to support such a worthy campaign.   We look forward to attending this event again in the future.”
