Passing of Mr David S. Cook, Solicitor

It is with regret that the Law Society of Northern Ireland notifies members of the passing of Mr David S. Cook, solicitor on Saturday 19th September 2020.

Mr. Cook was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1968.

In 1978, he became the first non-unionist Lord Mayor of Belfast. 

He also served in the Northern Ireland Assembly from 1982 until 1986.

Mr Cook was the deputy leader of the Alliance Party from 1980 to 1984.

He was a sole practitioner with Sheldon and Stewart Solicitors before retiring in 2017. 

The Law Society of Northern Ireland extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends and former colleagues.
