Mentoring Programme 2018 - Call For Mentees And Mentors

Mentoring is a developmental partnership through which the Mentor shares knowledge, skills, information and perspective to foster the personal and professional growth of the Mentee.

It is a partnership between two people usually working in a related profession/sector with similar experiences. It is a relationship based upon trust and respect.

Mentoring Programme

The 12 month Mentoring Programme has just been completed and we are now moving into the fourth year of the programme.

We have already recruited and trained a number of senior women and men all of whom have achieved strong career success within the legal profession.

Everyone involved in the programme has agreed to share their experiences, knowledge and skills to support mentees to progress their careers in this profession.

The Mentor will assist the Mentee in career development, problem solving, building confidence and expanding career enhancing networks.

The Mentor will offer valuable knowledge, empathy and insight gained from their own experience over many years.

They are strong Mentors who will ask questions, offer challenges, give advice, build confidence through support and encourage new networking opportunities.

As mentoring is most effective when it is driven by the Mentee, you will be required to take ownership, through a ‘Mentor Agreement’ which will encourage you to be active, curious, open to challenge and willing to stretch your development and learning beyond your current comfort zone.

What you will gain:

o A confidential sounding board;

o An opportunity to improve professional and personal networks;

o Support to increase confidence;

o Assistance in building knowledge, developing skills and competencies which will enhance career opportunities.

What you need to do:

Contact – Susan Duffy, CPD Co-ordinator at cpdbookings@lawsoc-ni.org

o You will be sent a Mentor Agreement. Please read and be clear that you can commit fully.

o You will also be sent a Mentee Bio that must be completed in full and returned

What will happen next?

o You will be matched with a suitable Mentor;

o You will meet with your Mentor to complete the Mentor Agreement;

You will meet with your Mentor monthly for 12 months with a review after 6 and 12 months.

LAST YEAR THERE WAS HIGH DEMAND FOR MENTORS AND PLACES ARE LIMITED. TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT, EARLY SUBMISSION OF YOUR MENTEE BIO IS ADVISED.
