Man pretending to be from local bank calling solicitor firms

SCAM WARNING

o   The Society has been notified a man pretending to be from a local bank is phoning local solicitor firms.

o   The man asks if a cheque had cleared with their firm.

o   When told that the firm didn’t use a certain bank he then asks for confirmation of which bank the firm uses.

o   This is an attempt to steal banking information for a scam which may occur later.

o   When challenged the scammer hangs up.

o   If you receive a call from a man pretending to be from a bank, challenge them and never ever give out any banking information!

o   If you can secure the number of the caller report the matter to the PSNI by phoning 101 as this is a scam attempt.
