Local Solicitors To Go Extra Mile For Women’s Aid NI

Ryan Elliott and John Murphy will be undertaking a gruelling half-marathon of 13.1miles on Christmas Day to help raise urgent funds for Women's Aid - Armagh/Down area.

Commenting Ryan said:

As Solicitors in Newry, we have often witnessed the brilliant work of Women's Aid Armagh Down in particular. We have observed many clients, many of whom have fled violence and abuse in their own homes, take back control and re-build their lives with the help and support of Women's Aid.

2020 has proven a heavy burden on Women's Aid's resources and they are currently struggling to sustain their core services. They are requesting urgent donations to continue providing basic amenities such as food vouchers and bedding for those women and children who have sought refuge.

We will be running regardless of rain, hail or snow to raise funds for this wonderful local service”.

The importance of supporting the service is underscored by the statistics with 32,015 domestic abuse incidents in Northern Ireland between November 2019-2020.

The number of domestic abuse crimes over this period rose to 18,885, an increase of over 9 percent, the third highest toll since 2004/05 with 51 crimes recorded every single day.
