We are looking for a new legal officer to join our Social Security Law team. If you are skilled, creative and passionate about using the law to make a difference in people’s lives, we want to hear from you.
The post-holder will be a central point of contact for the advice and voluntary sector across NI as well as the public, providing specialist legal advice and assistance on social security law issues. They will manage their own caseload and will build on the strategic and other work of the Law Centre’s social security team at a time when more people than ever are reliant on the social security system. Recent strategic litigation includes successful challenges to the terminal illness rules for benefits and bereavement support benefit.
To apply for the position you will need detailed knowledge of social security law and a minimum of 3 years’ experience of providing legal advice or be a solicitor or barrister qualified to practice in NI with at least 1 years’ post qualification experience and detailed knowledge of social security law. Consideration will given to requests for secondment and flexible working arrangements.
