Law Society of Northern Ireland Writes To Finance Minister

The Law Society of Northern Ireland has written to the Finance Minister, Conor Murphy, to seek an urgent resolution to the closure of the Land Registry.

The Society, which has been in discussions with Land Registry over the last few week says it is imperative that a safe and workable solution is agreed to reduce the negative impact of the closure on the economy, commercial lending and conveyancing transactions in Northern Ireland.

Commenting, the President of the Law Society of Northern Ireland, Rowan White said:

“The Society is aware of a number of inaccurate statements which have been circulating and which suggest that Land Registry will open shortly. The Society has written to the Minister seeking his urgent attention and clarity on this matter”.
