The Society is continuing with its series of support and information sessions for solicitors with a seminar on the application and appointment process for judicial appointments. The seminar will cover all aspects of the selection and assessment process.
The event will be delivered by an experienced professional in the field of recruitment, assessment and selection – Mrs Ruth Laird CBE.
Mrs Laird has over 30 years experience in the field of human resource management and organisational development, working across the public, private and voluntary sectors. She was formerly Director of the National Trust, NI, Director of HR, BBC, NI, and a Fair Employment Commissioner. Mrs Laird is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development and has previously served as a Judicial Appointments Commissioner, a Civil Service Commissioner and an Independent Assessor for Public Appointments. She has held public appointments as a non-executive director of the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority, Translink and the NI Prison Service. Mrs Laird has recently completed two terms of office as a member of the Council of Ulster University. Current appointments include Parole Commissioner, Civil Legal Services Appeal Panel and the Mental Health Review Tribunal.
