A team from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (#IPLS) have won the prestigious UK Student Mediation Competition 2024.

The competition is designed to help law students understand the value of resolving disputes through mediation, develop their mediation skills and techniques, and to better understand the mediation process in general.

The competition which was hosted by Edinburgh Law School took place on 26 and 27 January 2024 with teams from the University of Glasgow, Swansea and Kent University taking part.

The teams were judged on their mediation technique and overall work by a panel of expert judges who deemed the team from Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS) the winners.

The IPLS team which included Emiko Seawright (Arthur Cox) Cole Johnston (Pascal OHare solicitors) and Sarah Moore (A & L Goodbody) were coached by Professor Barbara Jemphrey.

The IPLS will host the competition in 2025.
