£7374 Raised for Marie Curie Northern Ireland

Members of the legal profession, Judiciary and support staff took time out of their offices this week to take part in the annual Legal Walk/Run through Belfast City Centre on Friday 17th May 2019.

Now in its third year the Legal Walk/run helps raise funds in support of Marie Curie Northern Ireland, a charity that provides care and support for people with a terminal illness.

Over 200 participants dressed in bright yellow t-shirts set off from outside the High Court in Belfast for their 5k walk/run to the Titanic Centre and back again.

Organised by the Law Society of Northern Ireland the Legal Walk/Run has grown in popularity with increased participation from all parts of the legal profession including solicitors, barristers, and Judiciary and support staff.

The Society can now confirm that the total amount raised was: £7374.00

The money raised will be donated to Marie Curie Northern Ireland, a charity that provides care and support for people with a terminal illness.

The top 3 men and women finishers of the Walk/Run were:

1- Patrick Higgins Donnelly Wall 

2- Conor Kerr HSF

3- Sebastian Bucher HSF

1- Neasa Agnew - Education Authority 

2- Johanna Cunningham Arthur Cox 

3- Marie Anne McVeigh MTB

Commenting the President of the Law Society, Suzanne Rice, said:

“I am delighted that so many colleagues in the legal profession, judiciary and support staff have committed themselves to participating in the Legal Walk/Run to help raise funds for Marie Curie Northern Ireland”.

“Marie Curie would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support and participation in the Legal Walk/Run 2019. The monies raised will go towards supporting families across Northern Ireland”.
