District Judge Greg Mc Court Retirement Evening

Hosted by the Ards and North Down Solicitors Association

The Ards and North Down Solicitors Association held a function in the Royal Belfast Golf Club on 19th October 2017 to celebrate the distinguished career and mark the imminent retirement of District Judge Greg Mc Court.

After graduating from Queens University Belfast with Honours in 1969, Greg Mc Court was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1973. He practiced in Bangor for the duration of his career, becoming a partner to his great friend Desmond Murray soon after joining his firm, with Murray Mc Court Solicitors becoming an established member of the North Down legal community. He became a Deputy District Judge in 1997 before leaving behind the world of private practice, when he was appointed as a Resident Magistrate in 2005. Always courteous and attentive to cases and to people who appeared before him , he conducted court business with respect and fairness, befitting of the gentleman he is.

Everyone who attended the Dinner had a great evening and in a note of thanks to each attendee Mr Mc Court expressed his thanks for the ‘generous words and magnificent gifts’ and wished everyone continued success in their legal careers and good wishes for the future.

We at the Association would like to place on record our thanks to the staff at the Royal Belfast Golf Club for the excellent reception, meal and service on the night and to our guests on the evening, most notably District Judge Mark Hamill and Mrs Sheila Mc Court.

The large and varied turnout for this event displays the esteem in which District Judge Mc Court is held and the members of the Ards and North Down Solicitors Association, members of the Bar, and solicitors from the PPS who were in attendance all wish him a long and happy retirement.
