Reminder on Furlough Claims Deadline and Companies House Updates
Deadline for Submission of Furlough Claims for the Period Ending 30 June 2020- Tomorrow
- Firms submitting claims for periods ending on or before 30 June 2020 by 31 July 2020. This is the last date for these claims to be made so members will wish to bear this in mind. As advised previously, employers need to have made a claim at any point on or before 31 July to be able to make a claim for future months.
Employers Required to Fund National Insurance and Pension Contributions from 1 August
- From 1 August 2020 the furlough scheme will no longer fund employers’ National Insurance (NI) and pensions contributions for furloughed employees. These payments will now have to made by firms.
Job Retention Bonus Scheme: Guidance Expected Tomorrow
- The Government announced earlier this month in its Plan for Jobs initiative that a one-off payment of £1,000 will be issued to UK employers for every furloughed employee who remains continuously employed through to the end of January 2021. Employees must earn above the Lower Earnings Limit (£520 per month) on average between the end of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and the end of January 2021. Payments are scheduled to be made from February 2021. Government guidance is due tomorrow and the Society will provide further updates in due course.

Companies House has announced the re-starting of the process for companies applying for voluntary strike-off as of 10 September 2020. Guidance is available here.
