The Coroner’s Court is preparing for the inquest into the deaths by shooting that occurred in Ballymurphy on 9th, 10th and 11th August 1971.

The deceased were Francis Quinn; Father Hugh Mullan; Noel Phillips;

Joan Connolly; Daniel Teggart; Joseph Murphy; Edward Doherty; John

Laverty; Joseph Corr; and John James McKerr.

The inquest will be held in Belfast commencing on 10th September 2018.

 The Coroner is appealing for all witnesses to the shootings who have not previously made statements (or those who have made statements and wish to add to those statements) to come forward and provide whatever information they can to assist with the inquest proceedings.

 The Coroner’s staff will hold an event to meet witnesses on 1st February 2018 at:

 The Belfast Metropolitan College

Community Learning Centre Building

Springvale Campus

398 Springfield Road

Belfast BT 12 7DU

 The Coroner’s Staff will be present from 10am to 7pm that day. They will ask you to provide your contact details and brief details of your account.

 The Coroner’s investigator may ask to take a statement from you on the day or may make arrangements to take a statement from you on a later date.

 If you were a witness to the shootings or if you have other information to provide about the shootings, this is an important opportunity for you to assist the inquest. You may also be asked to attend the inquest to give evidence, but the necessary arrangements for that will be made at a later stage.

 If you do not feel comfortable about attending this event or if the timing of the event is not suitable for you, please make contact prior to the event in order that alternative arrangements can be made to speak to you.
