The OCP is the department of the High Court with responsibility for the administrative work associated with Part VIII of the Mental Health [Northern Ireland] Order 1986. The OCP is responsible for the appointment of ‘Controllers’ – persons who have court authority to manage the finances and property of someone who, through mental incapacity, is unable to manage their own affairs.

The session will provide information on the controllership application process, the duties of an appointed controller and the types of legal work required under Part VIII of the Mental Health Order. Information and guidance in respect of Enduring Powers of Attorney will also be provided.

The session will be delivered by Nigel Bloomer, the administrative manager of the OCP.
