Brexit Planning a Top Priority For Law Society Of Northern Ireland
The implications
of Brexit on legal practices was just one of a number of issues discussed
at a series of events taking place this week throughout Northern Ireland.
The series of events, which have been organised by the Law Society
of Northern Ireland, aims to provide local solicitors with up-to-date
information on Brexit and a platform to discuss its possible impact on their
practices and clients.
Those attending the events in Newry, Belfast, Enniskillen and
Londonderry/Derry will have the opportunity to hear from a number of keynote
speakers including John Campbell, Business Editor with BBC Northern Ireland,
Angela McGowan, Director of the CBI Northern Ireland and Stephen Kelly, Chief
Executive Officer of Manufacturing NI who have provided their insight on
Brexit.
Also speaking at all of the events is Law Society’s Chief
Executive Officer, David Lavery CB, who will provide to those attending an overview
of the ongoing work of the Society on Brexit matters.
Commenting after the Belfast event, David Lavery said:
“The legal profession will not be immune to the impact of Brexit
and the Law Society recognises that its priority must be to provide its members
with the necessary information and support to ensure that they continue to
provide the best available advice.
Our number one priority will be to ensure the continuity of legal services on the island of Ireland irrespective of how Brexit turns out".
