APPEAL FOR INFORMATION REGARDING THE INJURY AND DEATH OF MASTER STEPHEN GEDDIS ON 28TH - 30TH AUGUST 1975

 

The inquest into the death of 10 year old Stephen Geddis on 30th August 1975 is listed to commence at Laganside Courts, Belfast on 22nd June 2020.  

 

On the evening of 28th August 1975, Stephen Geddis was in the Albert Street / Cullingtree Road area of Belfast when he was struck by an object that may have been a plastic bullet. He was brought to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast where he died on 30th August 1975.

 

The Coroner, Mr McGurgan, requests that anyone who can assist this inquest in examining the death of Stephen Geddis make contact with the Legacy Inquest Unit.  There may, for example, be persons who were in the Divis area at the relevant time or who may have relevant information concerning the death but who have not yet brought that information to the attention of the authorities. 

 

Staff from the Legacy Inquest Unit will be available to speak to any witnesses or those with other information on 20th February 2020 from 2.00pm – 6.00pm at the Maureen Sheehan Centre, 106 Albert St, Belfast BT12 4HL.

 

Any individual who was in the area at the relevant time or who may have information in relation to the death of Stephen Geddis is requested to attend the Maureen Sheehan Centre on 20th February 2020 or, alternatively, to contact the Legacy Inquest Unit using the contact details below.
