500 Local Solicitors Attend 'Online Conveyancing Conference' 2020
Over
500 solicitors from across Northern Ireland attended the Law Society’s Conveyancing
Conference on Monday 19th October 2020.
Now in its seventh year, the Law Society Conveyancing Conference has
become a regular feature of the legal calendar.
This
year’s conference was held ‘online’ in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and those
attending participated from their offices and homes across Northern Ireland and
further afield.
The focus of the
conference was the launch of the Society’s new Home Charter Scheme with
attendees being provided with an overview of the new Scheme and precedent
documents.
Attendees also had an
opportunity to discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on conveyancing
in Northern Ireland and the response of the profession in keeping the market
moving.
A number of keynote speakers provided presentations including:
·
Alan Reid, Chair, Law Society
Conveyancing and Property Committee on the
work of Law Society Conveyancing and Property Committee including the Home Charter
Review and the impact of coronavirus.
·
Rowan White, President of the Law Society
of Northern Ireland, Review of Regulations.
·
Simon Murray, Murray Kelly Moore Solicitors, New General Conditions of Sale.
·
Mary Murnaghan, Murnaghan Legal, Review of Documents.
·
Dawson McConkey, Carson McDowell Solicitors, New Commercial Schedule to the General Conditions of
Sale.
·
Andrew Kirkpatrick, Head of Policy, Law Society of
Northern Ireland, Coronavirus Special
Conditions.
Despite the conference
being online this year attendees still had the opportunity to engage with speakers and
ask questions.
