Stamp Duty
Please note that enquiries as to whether a property is situate within
a particular electoral ward qualifying for exemption from Stamp Duty
if the price is £150,000 or less should not be referred to the
Electoral Office. The proper agency to deal with such enquiries is the
Valuation and Lands Agency. The information can be found on their website
http://vla2.nics.gov.uk/ (or
click on the "Valuation List" heading on their home page).
Please ensure that enquiries are referred in the first instance to the
VLA website.
In addition, the Inland Revenue now provides a postcode search facility for properties that may appear on the qualifying list for disadvantaged areas with exemption from stamp duty. Simply enter the postcode and search using the site:
